Current Legislative Activities Education and Workforce Development   

SEMCOG’s Task Force on Workforce Development in the Changing Economy developed recommendations for preparing Michigan’s workforce for the new economy. The recommendations are divided into three areas:

• Human Capital,
• Organizational Development, and
• Vibrant Communities.

To implement the recommendations, SEMCOG will focus on advocating for legislation on behalf of local governments and the education community. Legislative advocacy issue areas include:

• Adequate state funding for higher education,
• Funding for early childhood programs, and
• Adequate infrastructure for housing.
