Housing

Housing imageHousing is an essential element of community development. It impacts residents and governments, property values, local revenues, public services, and community stability. SEMCOG is involved in various aspects of housing through its partnerships with the  U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA), and Michigan Community Development Association (MCDA). In particular, SEMCOG collects, analyzes, and disseminate information on legislative and administrative regulations concerning residential issues that may affect local governments, including:  

  • Affordable housing 
  • Manufactured housing
  • Mixed used development
  • Downtown housing
  • Neighborhood revitalization
  • Foreclosures
