Thinking creatively

 Permanent link

Through the work of SEMCOG's Local Government Finance Task Force, we know that local governments are working hard to implement new and innovative solutions to stretch each tax dollar they receive from residents.

For example, in St. Clair Shores, more than 250 volunteer residents serve on commissions and committees, including beautification, communications, cultural, and property enhancement, among others, helping to keep the city vibrant. The community calendar that all residents receive is now “sponsored” by ads placed by area businesses, eliminating the need for the city to use tax dollars to produce this important communications vehicle for residents.

Please join our interactive discussion and talk about the innovative solutions going on in your community to help stretch tax dollars.
