Planning Assistance Program Overview

SEMCOG’s Planning Assistance Program provides direct funding for local planning projects that move regional plans and priorities forward. Since its launch in 2019, this program has awarded over $4.3 million through competitive grants to over 100 projects – ranging from planning projects on transportation safety, accessibility and corridor analysis, trails and greenways, sustainable infrastructure, and pedestrian placemaking.

While dates are subject to change, SEMCOG will likely issue a funding announcement for FY2028 funding availability in April, with applications due in May 2027. As with previous years, these will be one-year grants beginning on July 1, 2027 and ending on June 30, 2028.
